When it comes to leveling up your life and achieving success, tapping into your inner strength is the ultimate game-changer. In this no-nonsense guide, we'll break down the Warrior Mindset and give you the real-deal tools to supercharge your mental toughness and crush your goals.

What's the Warrior Mindset All About?

The Warrior Mindset is like the secret sauce to becoming a mental powerhouse. It's all about borrowing a page from history's bravest and learning how to:

Face your fears

1. Face Fear Head-On

Imagine you're in this scenario: You're eyeing a big promotion at work, but the thought of the interview terrifies you. Warriors wouldn't back down; they'd use that fear as fuel to prepare and nail the interview.

One example of how I used this was knowing that after my surgery the real battle with Cancer would really begin and I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. I was able to let go and accept that fact. I also accepted that challenge and chose to fight like a warrior. Took it one day at a time.

So, embrace your fears, and turn them into your personal rocket booster.

Stay Disciplined

2. Get Crazy Disciplined

Warriors aren't just spontaneous fighters; they're disciplined as heck. That means setting clear goals, crafting routines, and never losing sight of what they want. It's like a GPS for success, helping you stay on course no matter what.

While in between treatments, I would find time to get physical no matter how I felt on the daily. Whether it’s going outside & walking around, to putting some reps on light resistance bands, I would always make sure that I did something to counter the effects of the Cancer & it’s treatments.

3. Bounce Back Like a Boss

Life can throw curveballs, but with the Warrior Mindset, you're like a bouncy ball—no matter how hard you're thrown, you come back stronger. Resilience is your armor against life's curveballs.

While I was healing during my journey, I fed my mind with movies like the Rocky Franchises, Bruce Lee Movies, and many other protagonists style movies where they would find themselves in pretty shitty situations. I’d use that energy/emotion I felt on the scenes where they bounced back from a fall and to know that I can get back up whenever I'd fall during my journey.

4. Believe in Yourself

Warriors are their own biggest fans. They believe in themselves even when the world doubts. You've got to be your own number one supporter, cheering yourself on through thick and thin.

Using all those first 3 principles together, I was able to solidify in my mind that I am going to Win this battle. I firmly believed that I was going to win and visualized myself healthy and feeling alive everyday.

Now that we've over some of the fundamentals on the Warrior Mindset, it's time to put it to work. This is where we TAKE ACTION! Thinking and imagining are only half of completing your Warrior’s mindset journey. Physical work combined with mental visualization is where the real magic happens. Here are some actions you can take to awaken your inner warrior and unlock your hidden potential.

1. Zen Moments with Mindfulness

Meditation might sound too “spiritual”, but it's like a mental training ground for warriors. The Mental mats you can say. It helps you stay focused, reduces stress, and sharpens your mind. You'll be amazed at how much more you can handle when your mind is clear and sharp.

I started this practice months after my Cancer treatments, but I’m glad that I got started then. Ever since I’ve started meditating, my emotional intelligence has leveled up, I’m able to stay present longer throughout the day, & able to think properly through difficult situations.

2. Get Moving, Get Strong

The mind and body are tighter than 2 thighs squeezing for that triangle choke. Regular exercise isn't just about looking good; it's about feeling strong. Physical fitness boosts your confidence, like a warrior putting on their battle gear.

I committed myself to Jiu Jitsu since it was advised for me not to take any unnecessary consistent impacts to the head since my brain surgery. This grappling art has made me feel the best I’ve ever been. My confidence has enhanced and can walk towards my fears much easier.

3. Set Your Sights on Goals

Warriors always know what they're fighting for. The secret? Setting crystal clear goals. Write down what you want and break it into bite-sized pieces. Achieving these mini-milestones keeps your motivation on fire.

There’s something special when you actually write down your goals with pen and paper, then check marking when completing. That energy that you feel at that moment… Take a deep breath to remember it and save it. Use that feeling to get you completing other written down goals.

4. Say Yes to Positive Vibes

Your inner dialogue is like your personal cheerleader. Dump the self-doubt, and crank up the positivity. It's like having a life coach in your head, cheering you on through every challenge. What would you say to your friend/teammate to get him motivated to get back up, you should also say those same words to yourself.

I use that “I’m gonna do it anyway” phrase when I suddenly don’t want to do something. Sometimes when I don’t wanna put on my Gi and train, I tell myself “I’m gonna train anyway”. When I don’t want to wake up in the morning, I tell myself “I’m gonna get up anyway”. After you do that action you’ll thank yourself that you did it.

5. Find Your Heroes

You know what's cool about heroes? They inspire. Read about people who've gone from zero to hero. Their stories can be your daily boost of motivation to keep your warrior spirit strong.

Slaying Life's Monsters

On your quest to awaken your inner warrior, you're going to face some epic battles. Think of them as leveling up in a video game; each challenge makes you stronger. Embrace the struggle, and you'll emerge a victorious champion.

From that seizure I had that while driving, hearing the news that I got a brain tumor, the surgery, and treatments. I took it one step at a time and counted small wins consistently. These challenges during this battle made me stronger mentally. When you have faith and push yourself, nothing can stop you.
