Benefits of Fasting

In a world dominated by modern conveniences and fast-paced lifestyles, the practice of fasting has emerged as a powerful tool for

enhancing both physical and mental well-being. This blog will take you on a journey on the remarkable benefits of fasting, delving into its role not only in overcoming cancer but also in fortifying the mindset.

The Therapeutic Power of Fasting

Fighting Cancer Through Fasting

Emerging scientific studies have shed light on the intriguing connection between fasting and cancer. Fasting, whether intermittent or extended, triggers a series of physiological responses that can significantly inhibit the growth of cancer cells. Research suggests that depriving cancer cells of a continuous supply of nutrients weakens their ability to reproduce rapidly, rendering them more susceptible to treatments like chemotherapy and radiation.

Cellular Renewal and Repair

Fasting induces a process called autophagy (yeah, I know... big word), this is when the body cleanses damaged cells and initiates cellular renewal. This remarkable process not only enhances the body's overall health but also plays a crucial role in preventing cancer development. By encouraging the removal of potentially harmful cells, fasting contributes to the body's ability to ward off the emergence of cancerous growths.

Strengthening the Mindset Through Fasting

Mastering Self-Discipline

Embarking on a fasting journey requires a strong sense of self-discipline. The practice necessitates refraining from immediate gratification and adopting a patient approach towards nourishment. This discipline transcends fasting itself and spills over into other aspects of life, cultivating a mindset of resilience and determination. I wish I could say it was easy, but there were so many time I wanted to break and eat. I had to really dig deep on this one. I can say that it make me appreciate food more.

Enhancing Mental Clarity

Fasting has been found to have a positive impact on cognitive function. As the body enters a state of ketosis during fasting, the brain utilizes ketones as an alternative energy source, leading to enhanced mental clarity and focus. This heightened cognitive state empowers individuals to tackle challenges with a clear and composed mind. When I roll on the mats, I'm really zoned in and present. Both engaged to see who can out do who and that determination to finish.

A Personal Journey: Fasting Through My Battle with Cancer

Embracing Fasting for Healing

Having faced the daunting challenge of cancer, I turned to fasting as a potential means of support. The changes I have witnessed throughout this journey have been awesome! Here's what I've noticed for myself.

Improved Energy Levels

One of the most noticeable changes I experienced was a significant boost in my energy levels. Fasting allowed my body to redirect its energy towards healing processes, making me feel more invigorated and proactive.

At the end of each rolling session I still have energy to do something physical like more push ups, pull ups, & functional stretching.

Enhanced Resilience

Fasting, with its requirement of self-discipline, has spilled over into my mindset, enhancing my resilience and determination. This newfound mental strength has not only assisted me in coping with the challenges of cancer but has also permeated various other aspects of my life.

Bringing it back to Jits, when I get into a bad situation, I know to remain calm and figure out what to do. I am able to escape and get into a better position.

Clarity and Focus

Navigating the complexities of a cancer diagnosis requires a clear and focused mind. Fasting's impact on cognitive function has aided me in maintaining mental clarity, enabling me to make well-informed decisions about my treatment and care.

I've notice that I don't really have any anxiety as much as I did before Cancer because my mind isn't scattered like it was back then. Having a calmed mind, I'm able to be more in control of my emotions.

Transitioning Towards a Fasting Lifestyle

Start Small and Build Gradually

For those new to fasting, it's advisable to begin with shorter fasting windows, such as intermittent fasting. This approach allows the body to adapt gradually, reducing the likelihood of adverse effects. Over time, individuals can explore more extended fasting periods, harnessing the full range of benefits that fasting offers.

I started with 16 hour Intermittent fasting, I only ate between 11-7pm. Once I got used to that, I gradually added more time and got my results to a 36 hour no food & water fast and a 72 only water fast. Like I stated before, it wasn't easy, but I was determined.

Consultation and Professional Guidance

Even though I dove in deep with how I started my fasting practice, I'd highly recommend that before you embark on any fasting regimen, especially for cancer patients, it's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional. Medical guidance ensures that fasting is safe and appropriate for individual health conditions, promoting holistic well-being throughout the fasting journey.

Conclusion

In a culture where health challenges and mental stressors are everywhere, embracing the practice of fasting can be transformative. From its potential to aid in the fight against cancer by weakening cancer cells to its ability to fortify mental resilience, fasting offers a multifaceted approach to overall well-being. By incorporating fasting into one's lifestyle with careful consideration and professional advice, individuals can harness its benefits to optimize their physical health and strengthen their mindset.
